Volvo Drives Towards a Greener Future and Calls on Other Businesses to Follow
Volvo Cars unveiled a new target to reduce CO2 emissions per vehicle by 75% by 2030 compared to 2018 levels. This ambitious goal builds on existing pledges only to sell electric cars this decade and become a climate-neutral company by 2040.
In a recent commitment by Volvo, highlighted by Mark Segal, founder of ESG Today, Volvo Cars unveiled a new target to reduce CO2 emissions per vehicle by 75% by 2030 compared to 2018 levels. This ambitious goal builds on existing pledges only to sell electric cars this decade and become a climate-neutral company by 2040.
As Volvo COO Javier Varela stated, “The world urgently needs to come together and act to avoid the worst effects of climate change. We’re committed to doing our part, and we call on corporate and political leaders around the globe to also do theirs.”
As more corporations join initiatives like the First Movers Coalition to create early markets for near-zero emissions of steel, aluminum, and other materials, it demonstrates the power of collective action to drive progress.
